When my father passed away, he left behind decades of groundbreaking research, countless hours of lectures, meeting transcripts, and unfinished work that had touched the lives of many people. As a researcher, his insights and unique perspective had guided students, influenced policy, and advanced understanding in his field.
I couldn't bear the thought of that knowledge simply fading away. So I began what would become my deepest dive into large language models and fine-tuning: creating the "dad-bot" - an AI that could capture not just his research, but his tone of voice, his way of thinking, his approach to complex problems.
Training this model on his books, video transcripts, meeting notes, and unfinished research wasn't just a technical challenge - it was a way to honor his legacy and ensure his wisdom could continue helping others long after he was gone.
This deeply personal project opened my eyes to the profound possibilities of AI. Not just as a tool for automation, but as a bridge between human knowledge and accessibility, between past wisdom and future innovation.
